“Today we reached another milestone for the management of borders. Today we signed the first agreement with a third state for the management of borders and this will allow FRONTEX to have its own teams in Albania. FRONTEX will have border crossing points and will patrol the border”. This was declared today by the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos after signing an agreement for border patrol by FRONTEX.
“The whole picture concerning migration is changing and we should be vigilant. Based on strategies drafted for Western Balkans, we should fight peoples’ smuggling and improve our asylum systems. At the same time, we should also guarantee free movement of honest people”, Avramopoulos said. /ibna/
