Lida Filippakis

I grew up bilingual (English-Greek) and live like a nomad but not mad. Journalism is a natural fit. I studied Mass Media of the Eastern Block & Russian Philology/Translation and ever since my graduation (2004), newsrooms and the field have been my daily routine. War/conflict zone correspondence entered my professional life in 2011 (Horn of Africa drought). Ukraine, Iraq and the extensive migrant/refugee crisis in Greece were next. Well-trained video journalist (VJ), excellent at multitasking and working long hours, fierce supporter of the “canons of journalism”. Romantic? Maybe but I insist. 2004 - present: “APTN”, “Reuters”, “Ruptly”, the “BBC”, “Nott”, “ERT”, “Air FM 104,4”, “Epikaira”, “Proto Thema”, and more.
