Austrian president, Heinz Fischer says that the European Union is not complete without Western Balkans.
During a two day visit to Kosovo, the Austrian president declared in a joint press conference with president Atifete Jahjaga that after the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, Kosovars are now waiting to be granted the visa free regime.
“For Austria, the process of European integration is not complete until the Western Balkan states become part of the EU. I would like to congratulate Kosovo on the SAA and the next step is the visa liberalization process. The EU states are working on this”, he declared.
Fischer also spoke of the problems in parliament between the majority and opposition, asking from political parties to engage in dialogue.
“As far as problems between government and opposition are concerned, they must be solved through dialogue”, Fischer said.
Fischer demanded from institutions of the country to work more in fighting organized crime and corruption, as a condition for investments from abroad.
“Austria is ready to make investments in Kosovo, but crime and corruption must be fought and rule of law must prevail”, Fischer said.
Meanwhile, Kosovo president Atifete Jahjaga said that she’s engaged in solving the political crisis in Kosovo and if the situation doesn’t normalize, then she would address to the Constitutional Court to deliberate the Agreement for the Association of Serb Communes. /ibna/
