Reinhold Lopatka and Michael Hammer, Austrian People’s Party MPs, had a meeting today with the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.
“We have always supported Albania and we are in favor of the opening of EU accession talks for Albania in the month of June”, they said.
“Today, we were able to exchange opinions and we noticed that the negotiations are supported by both sides of the political spectrum. Chairman Basha confirmed the opposition’s support for the process and the same support was also confirmed by deputy parliamentary speaker, Vasilika Hysi”, Lopatka said.
However, the Austrian MP added that “we’re concerned about the affair surrounding the Interior minister. His case should have been handled in a more credible manner, in order to help the country’s path toward EU integration”.
On his part, opposition leader Basha said that “I have asked my friends to do everything in order for the negotiations to be opened”. /ibna/
