Attacks against Albanians in Skopje, police announces the arrest of several hooligans

Update-Authorities in Skopje said on Saturday afternoon that they’ve arrested several persons suspected of being responsible for the attacks against Albanian inhabitants in the outskirts of the capital.

Balkaneu.com reported earlier on Saturday that during the night, around 60 Macedonian youngsters, residents of Skopje, attacked the houses of several Albanians in Lloke, near the capital.

Without any evident motive, the youngsters who were from a Macedonian inhabited quarter, have attacked the houses of several Albanian families with strong objects, such as stones and other circumstantial objects. Hooligans have also damaged several cars which were parked nearby.

Ministry of Interior Affairs said that police have launched an inquiry and have managed to identify some of the attackers.

Four youngsters have been arrested as participants in these attacks.

Police said that it has also launched a search about the other youngsters who participated in the attacks.

Skopje’s outskirts are often an arena of such incidents. There are around 100 houses inhabited by Albanian families and every once and a while, they are attacked by Macedonian extremists in Skopje, without any motive, but like the inhabitants claims, due to the mere fact that they’re Albanians. /ibna/
