Deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Greece, Evangelos Venizelos has implied today that Athens needs time to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

The senior Greek official, who visited Pristina in the framework of a Balkan tour, said that Greece wants the integration of Kosovo in the European Union and that his state will elaborate further steps.

Greece along with Spain, Cyprus, Romania and Slovakia consists of the block of 5 EU member countries which have not yet recognized the independence of Kosovo.

“I would like to offer a dynamic, concrete and constructive reply. To us, the integration of Kosovo in the European Union and NATO is a historical objective. This is a very important and challenging project and we will use the transitory period to elaborate further necessary steps”, declared Venizelos. /ibna/
