Associations of Journalists in FYR Macedonia, demanded today the immediate resignation of PM Nikola Gruevski, minister of Interior, Gordana Jankulovska and the head of secret services, Saso Mijalkov. These resignations have been demanded following yesterday publication of materials concerning the eavesdropping over 100 journalists.

“This abuse must come to a stop. They should resign, regardless of who has ordered the eavesdropping of journalists. Their removal from duty helps to find out the truth”, said the head of the Association of Journalists, Naser Selmani.

According to him, the only way out of this absurd situation is the creation of a new media system and a new monitoring system of the political system, which would guarantee independence and freedom of the media.

“We have seen how media was used to manipulate the citizens”, declared Selmani, adding that the citizens understood how the government corrupts and buys the media.

Association of Journalists has demanded from the public prosecution to launch an inquiry over the eavesdropping of journalists. /ibna/
