High representative of EU, Catherine Ashton has called upon prime ministers of Greece and FYR Macedonia to reach an agreement for a solution to the name dispute.
She has stressed this during a speech in “Woodrow Wilson” Institute in Washington, where she made a comparison with the prime ministers of Serbia and Kosovo, who managed to hold talks and reach an agreement on many open issues, by enabling the process of integrations.
The news was made public by an association of the Slav-Macedonian Diaspora UMD from Washington, the head of which, Meto Koloski has asked the EU senior official about her engagement in finding a solution to the name contest.
“I’m always ready to help, but the solution depends upon the necessary compromises to sit down on the table and prioritize issues like it was done in the case of Serbia and Kosovo”, declared baroness Ashton.
Ashton added that the EU is supporting the efforts of UNO to find a solution for the name dispute, which depends on the desire to be part of the EU. /ibna/
