Serb authorities decided to stop several artists from Kosovo, who were travelling to Belgrade, from entering the country today. The scope of this visit was to participate in a cultural activity, which aims at using art as a means to normalize relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the group also had several photographs, photo collection with the symbols of the former Kosovo Liberation Army and flags of Kosovo and Albania with them, to be shown in an exhibition by artist Eliza Hoxha in Belgrade.
Meanwhile, this has sparked strong reactions in Kosovo.
PM Ramush Haradinaj said that “with this act, Serb authorities are ruining every chance that exists to establish normal communication with Kosovo, even through art, which is a universal language”.
On his part, president Hashim Thaci said that he’s closely following the actions carried out by Serb authorities, adding that: “Art, culture and sport must not be prevented by politics, especially when they contribute for peace and reconciliation. The behaviour of the Serb authorities go against the spirit of cooperation that we’re trying to build in the region and against the efforts to build European relations between the countries of the region”, he said. /ibna/
