The critics of Antonis Samaras have began “sharpening their knives”, having already started discussions on the next day, aiming at a change of leadership after the election result shows a historic victory of SYRIZA.

Antonis Samaras, however, in his speech late last night said that he delivers the country with a clear conscious, having achieved primary surpluses, saving the country from the worse. He also said that the New Democracy remains strong, having only lost two points from the last general elections, and that he will lead the party in its new role as main opposition.

Inside the party, the “pro-Karamanlis” and “pro-Mitsotakikis” sides have already began discussions on the next day. They ask from Antonis Samaras to resign and for ND to go immediately to a Congress of “ideas and positions”. They accuse the former prime minister for a “right turn” serious communication errors during the electoral period. Very reliable information says that they are proposing as transitional president of New Democracy, former Speaker of the House, Evangelos Meimarakis.

Mr. Meimarakis himself, speaking with reporters, said: “I willnot doubt Antonis Samaras. I will only take action if he resigns or if the parliamentary group of the New Democracy asks for it”.

According to information from the environment of the Secretary of New Democracy Andreas Papamimikos, it is stressed that organizationally ND moved efficiently, chased the vote door to door and covered party gaps where they were.

The same sources noted that the party’s Secretary disagreed with the “strategy of fear” and collided on this issue with Chrysanthos Lazaridis, who was responsible for this communication strategy.
