Turkey’s National Security Council, during today’s meeting chaired by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, issued a statement stressing that Ankara’s presence in the Eastern Mediterranean would continue.
“Turkey will firmly continue its activity on its continental shelf in the eastern Mediterranean as well as in the areas granted by the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ “.
In the same communication issued by the 3.5 hour-long Council it is evident that Turkey’s plans to create a safe-zone within Syria have been put off. “We will build up our sincere efforts to strengthen the safe-zone”, the statement mentioned. /ibna
