Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) signed an agreement about the hosting of the top tourist event in Greece, the organisation of the 8th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism about to take place in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on 10-12 October 2018.
The two officials signed the agreement on the sidelines of the 108th session of the UNWTO Executive Council, in San Sebastián, Spain, where Greece participates for the first time since the founding of the Organization, as elected member for the period 2018-2021.
The major, international tourist event will take place on European ground for the first time ever.
It is co-organised by the World Tourism Organization, the Greek Ministry of Tourism and the Region of Central Macedonia with the support of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and local institutions…. / IBNA
