On Thursday, Sahin Yildirim, an archeologist at Bartin University, spoke to Anadolu about the ongoing archeological excavation at the site of a Roman legionary base in Anatolia -one of the four legionary bases in Turkey- saying that “This is the first time a Roman legionary fortress is being excavated in Anatolia.
We plan to find out about the functioning, tactical perceptions, weapons of a Roman legion as well as many other important things.” The ancient city of Satala where excavations are taking place is situated in northeast Turkey,
