Seven Greeks have been arrested as suspects for the damages done this morning at 9.oo a.m. at the offices of the company “Tiresias” – a company that holds data and detailed archives for all the loans in Greece. This morning fifteen men arrived there (others on foot and others on motorcycles) and entered the offices (at Alamana street, in northern Athens, Maroussi). They told the security guard not to interfere. In the offices a woman fainted, though nobody threatened her, probably because she got upset from the upheaval. The group of men started braking computers and destroying materials. They left quickly and a few hours later police announced that 7 men were arrested in the area as suspects for the vandalism.
Police said that the incident was organized and executed by a group of anarchists called “Rouviconas” that is held responsible for analogous attacks in the past. The group indeed posted a text (on the websiteathens.indymedia.org), where among others, they state that they decided to invade the offices of “Tiresias” because of the unpopular measures of the 3d memorandum “affecting the working class, while leaving untouched the financial powerful” and because “the managements of the banks have set up mechanisms for monitoring borrowers and record their data and use them for the effective realization of their objectives. One such mechanism is the Tiresias SA. which is a company founded in 1997 by the banks, and its main task is profiling those who deal with the banking system. More than 6.5 million citizens are registered in every detail in the records of “Tiresias”.
