In a continuous effort to rid the northern Syrian city of Manbij of the YPG/PKK Kurdish militia, considered as terrorists by both Ankara and Washington, Turkish and American armed forces conducted a 5th round of patrols in the area. The latter is part of a deal between the two sides that aim at clearing the area and at the same time securing it by keeping the YPG/PKK away from there. The wider plan is to stabilise the whole region.
Anadolu news agency reported that “Turkey has said the presence of terror forces near its border constitute a threat and has launched military operations and other efforts to rid the region of terrorists”, with the first patrols by the Turks and the Americans starting on June 18.
