Ambassador resigns following criticism by Prime Minister Thaci

Pristina, June 19, 2013

Lulzim Peci has handed in his irrevocable resignation from the Diplomatic Service of Kosovo. According to him, the reason for this resignation relates to the criticism launched by Prime Minister Hashim Thaci toward Peci’s declaration when he said that the normalization of relations with Serbia will be finalized once Kosovo is recognized by Serbia.

“I’m handing in my resignation because I don’t agree with the criticism launched against me by Prime Minister Thaci in relation to my declaration on the media according to which the full normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia will be finalized once Serbia recognizes our independence”, states the letter of resignation addressed to President Jahjaga.

“I’ve been convinced that the state policy of our country in relation to the full normalization of relations with Belgrade consisted on the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia, but it seems that this is not the case. Under such circumstances, I cannot continue my work within the Diplomatic Service of Kosovo”, states the letter of resignation.

Peci was recently appointed as liaison officer in Belgrade. /ibna/
