Communication Director of Turkish Republic Fahrettin Altun posted on his twitter account that Turkey’s maritime border agreement with the Libyan government is in accordance with international law
“Turkey’s maritime border agreement with the Libyan government is in accordance with international law.
It is neither “provocative” nor “unconstructive” as some US officials are claiming. We have been playing a very positive role by supporting the Libyan government.
We have supported the internationally legitimate UN-backed government in Libya.
We are also protecting our interests by defending our maritime and land borders in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Our US counterparts regularly refuse to understand our legitimate concerns.
We will defend our interests and stability in the Mediterranean in line with international law. Those who dare criticize Turkey should take a look at years of provocative actions by Greece and other regional states. We will never accept a fait accompli over our maritime borders!”/ibna
