Alexandra Papadopoulou, the new head of EULEX in Kosovo

Greek diplomat, Alexandra Papadopoulou will be the new head of the EU Mission for the Rule of Law in Kosovo.

She will enter office on 1 September 2016, replacing Gabrielle Meucci, who held this office since 15 October 2014.

According to the official statement of the European Union, Papadopoulou will help authorities in Kosovo to make improvements in terms of stability and accountability and in further strengthening the independent multi-ethnic justice system, police and customs service.

The decision for the appointment of Alexandra Papadopoulou has been taken by the Committee for Policies and Security.

EULEX has been created in 2008 and this institution helps and supports authorities of Kosovo in the domain of the rule of law, especially police, judicial system and customs.

Recently, Kosovo’s and EU authorities have agreed for this mission to continue the mandate until June 2018. /balkaneu.com/
