For a few hours was kept under confinement by security authorities in Thessaloniki the known for his nationalist views, Russian Professor Aleksandr Dougin, who maintains close relations with the far-right Golden Dawn in Greece, as they themselves state.

Aleksandr Dougin is the man who is one of the collaborators – some considered him the “mentor” – of Vladimir Putin and the Russian oligarchs.

Aleksandr Dougin landed on Tuesday at the “Macedonia” airport in order to go to Mount Athos for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill at the Russian monastery of St. Panteleimon.

According to police sources, the author and alleged close associate of Vladimir Putin was detained for a short time when a name similar to his appeared in the relevant list of persons against whom an arrest warrant is pending.

According to the same information, when it was found that this is a different person, he was released

Dougin said at the russian TV Tsargrad: “In view of President Putin’s visit and the Russian Patriarch to Mount Athos, I was detained at the city Thessaloniki airport. I was heading to Mount Athos to cover the historic visit of Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill. My detention was ostensibly due to sanctions which supposedly applied on behalf of Hungary. It is quite strange, because in recent months I have entered the territory of the European Union. These are attempts to obstruct the Greek-Russian relations”.

St. Panteleimon Monastery on Mount Athos is turned into a fort for Putin’s visit

Meanwhile, the monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos has been turned into a fortress, in view of the visit of Vladimir Putin on May 28.

As the daily “To Ethnos”, in the monastery have arrived and have already taken up residence 70 people of the personal security of the Russian president, who control everything. They have installed telecommunications “cutters”, interrupting communications at a great distance around the monastery, which has closed and only accepts very selected guests.

The official visit of Vladimir Putin in Athens is scheduled for the weekend of May 27-28. He will also visit Mount Athos, in a visit of pure pilgrimage in nature, where has already arrived the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Mr Cyril.
