During his visit to Brussels, the Albanian minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati met with the First Deputy President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans and commissioner Avramopulos.
During this meeting, Bushati made a detailed analysis of the reforms delivered by the Albanian government in its efforts to meet the five key priorities and praised the support of the European Commission for Albania’s European agenda.
Bushati underlined that bearing in mind the progress that has been made, the government is expecting 2018 to be a decisive year for Albania’s European path and in this aspect, the launch of accession talks will consolidate its engagement in transforming and modernizing the country.
According to him, the transformational reform in the judicial system is unique and is being delivered in close cooperation with international partners.
Meanwhile, on their part, during these two meetings, the European Commission officials praised Albania’s commitment for the agenda of reforms.
The European Commission Deputy President, Timmermans encouraged the continuation of the reform in the judicial system, as the foundation for the strengthening of the rule of law and advancement in the process of integration.
Meanwhile, commissioner Avramopoulos praised the measures taken in the fight against corruption and organized crime, in particular the positive results yielded in the fight against the cultivation of cannabis. /balkaneu.com/
