After an informal meeting held with leaders of the Balkan countries in Durres, the Albanian PM, Edi Rama said that Albania’s decision to receive 20 refugees from Eritrea who arrived in the Italian shores was a natural gesture and that the country did not gain anything from it. Rama dismissed any allusion being made that the country would benefit politically in the process of accession talks.
According to him, Albania acted the same way the entire Balkans acted during the refugee crisis in 2015.
Meanwhile, Kosovo’s PM, Ramush Haradinaj used this press conference to express his objection against the President and Kosovo’s chief negotiator in the talks being held with Serbia, Hashim Thaci for the correction of Kosovo’s borders.
The EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn said that decision making should help peace and stability in the entire region.
An informal meeting was held in Durres with Balkan leaders in order to coordinate actions for the decisions taken in the Trieste summit regarding the economic zone strategy, roaming agreement and mutual recognition of academic qualifications. /ibna/
