The collapse of a tunnel in a power plant in the north of Albania has claimed the life of three people who were working there, among them a Turkish national.

The victims are Ndue Legisi and Pjeter Doda, both 50 years of age, resident in Miredita and Lezha, and Hasan Atef, aged 52, born and resident in Turkey.

The accident took place last night in the tunnel of the power plant being built in Qafe Molla, Rreshen, Miredita, IBNA reports.

Construction of the power plant of Qafe Molla started to be built two years ago by a Turkish company, after the Albanian government granted concessions.

Since the start of construction works, residents of the area have protested in many occasions, in an effort to suspend the works, due to the failure to compensate their properties situated in the territory where the power plant of Qafe Molla is being built, in the mineral rich area of Rubik. /ibna/
