22 November is celebrated as Albanian Alphabet Day in FYROM. On the 109th anniversary of this important event for Albanians in Manastir and other parts of the country there will be different cultural and literary activities.
Under the auspices of the deputy PM, Hazbi Lika, the government will hold a number of activities. The government delegation will visit the Alphabet Museum in Manastir, where there will also be an exhibition with the portraits of the delegates who more than a century ago, participated in the Congress of Manastir.
Present in the congress which was held from 14 to 22 November 1908 were 50 intellectuals from 26 cities, clubs and associations. The congress approved the decision to use the Latin alphabet and adapting several letters according to the Albanian language. /balkaneu.com/
