The two Albanian sailors for which IBNA earlier reported that they had been seriously wounded, have lost their life after they were involved in the rescue operation of “Norman Atlantic” ferry.

The bodies of the two sailors are in Italy.

PM Edi Rama said that authorities are working to bring the troops in the country. Rama said that an inquest is needed for the members of the “Iliria” two ship crew to offer explanations about the event that led to the death of the two Albanian sailors.

“The government is entirely committed in bringing the two lifeless bodies in the Albanian land and to shed light as soon as possible over the circumstances of the accident that claimed their lives”, said the PM, by expressing his “deepest condolences and the utmost human solidarity for the families of the two sailors for the loss of their beloved ones”.

“Although they were not part of the Albanian Armed Forces which participated in the search and rescue operation of the passengers on board of Norman Atlantic, Albanian sailors offered their precious contribution as part of an international effort to avoid a catastrophe”, said the PM. /ibna/
