Albanian Prime Minister expresses his sadness at Margaret Thatcher departing this life

Tirana, 9 April 2013

Prime Minister Sali Berisha expressed in a message of condolences today his sadness at the former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher departing this life. PM Berisha writes the following:

“I was deeply saddened at the news of the former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher departing this life. Great Britain and the Western world lost one of the most outstanding leading political personalities of all times with Lady Thatcher passing away. The United Kingdom lost the “Iron Lady”, the living legend of determination and dedication, the great reformer that made economy reach its zenith and added all-round potential and formidable reputation of her country. The other nations consider Lady Thatcher the invincible symbol of fight against communism, the indomitable advocate of freedom, its values and peace in the world.

Albanians have lost today a great friend of their just cause. It will remain unforgettable in my memory the first meeting with former prime minister Thatcher in Blackpool. I had entered politics 3-4 months ago and her first words were: Tell me about the Balkans butcher Slobodan Milosevic massacre on your brothers in Kosova.

I bow with great estimation to the shining memory of Lady Thatcher and on behalf of the government of Albania I express to the bereaved family, the government and the people of the U.K. my deepest condolences and I pray together with them for the spirit of Lady Thatcher to rest in deserved peace”. /ibna/
