“A hasty move in this direction would lead to a suspension of the visa free regime for all citizens of Albania. So this would not be very productive, despite the positive intention that such proposal has”.
This was how the President of Albania, Ilir Meta commented the request made by his counterpart from Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, during his visit to Pristina in the past few days.
“I consider the request of the President of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaci as a protest in the name of the citizens of Kosovo against the unfair conditioning of the liberalization of the visa regime with the issue of demarcation or other issues”, he said.
Meta added that it is a known fact that Kosovo has delivered all of its obligations emanating from the guideline for the liberalization of visas.
“But, this cannot be a short-term solution because Albania, which currently benefits from the visa free regime, is being monitored by the EU Schengen countries”, the head of the Albanian state argued. /balkaneu.com/
