Albanian parliament ratifies North Macedonia’s NATO accession protocol

Albania is one of the first countries to ratify the protocol for the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia in the NATO.

Parliament approved today the protocol for the accession of this country in the North Atlantic Treaty, NATO. The voting was applauded by MPs.

Parliamentary speaker, Gramoz Ruci said that North Macedonia went through a very big test.

“Today we vote the NATO accession protocol for North Macedonia. I’m glad that the parliament of Albania is one of the first ones to ratify this protocol, giving way to the accession of this country in the North Atlantic Treaty”, Ruci said.

“This accession was made possible thanks to the Prespa agreement that the two countries signed”, he continued.

According to him, “this would have never been possible without the will, political courage and the emancipation of Albanians of North Macedonia. Albanian political parties in North Macedonia gave the green light for their country’s accession in the NATO”.

Present in this parliamentary sitting was also the speaker of the parliament of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi. According to Xhaferi, Albania reconfirmed its support toward its eastern neighbour.

Xhaferi also expressed the commitment of his government “to build a society for everyone”. /ibna/
