Democrat opposition says that the flat tax is the only way to bring back the economy on the right track.
This suggestion made by democrats comes after socialists in power replaced the flat tax with a progressive tax. The flat tax was a form of taxation which had been applied by Berisha’s government during the time that the right wing was in power.
To offer more details on this proposal, two senior democrat officials, Jorida Tabaku and Dorian Teliti delivered a news conference today.
“The only way to bring back the economy on the right track is for the flat tax to be introduced once again. This tax will stimulate the economy and it will act as a promoter for revenue growth”, Mrs. Tabaku said.
Tabaku noted that citizens are also spending that little money that they’ve managed to save up throughout the years. According to her, deposits in one year have dropped by 150 million euros.
According to the Bank of Albania, confidence of Albanian citizens on the future of the economy has dropped by 1.8%.
As far as the businesses are concerned, confidence in all the sectors of the economy has fallen by 9.9%.
According to the Bank of Albania, investment loans are dropping, although interest rate is lower.
The country’s central bank also reports for lower investments compared to a year ago.
For the Democratic Party, the situation with loans is in contradiction with the Private and Public Partnership scheme that the government has introduced.
Insisting on the return of the flat tax, democrats say that public debt may only be reduced by a producing economy. /ibna/
