In Albania, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Edmond Haxhinasto has announced on Friday afternoon his resignation from this post.
So far, Haxhinasto has not issued any official statement on the reasons of his resignation from the government.
Sources within SMI, the party which has appointed him on this post, told IBNA that the resignation is part of the “freshening up” that this political party is making to its members, who are part of PM Edi Rama’s cabinet.
They said that Haxhinasto will focus on SMI’s organizational issues, ahead of the elections which will be held next year.
The same sources said that Mr. Haxhinasto is expected to be replaced by Sokol Dervishaj, current chief of cabinet of the Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta.
Earlier, Mr. Dervishi has also served as Albania’s ambassador to Belgrade and then as deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. /balkaneu.com/
