This project is of a great importance for the sector of tourism and a positive impact is expected, especially for the residents of the area, as new jobs are expected to open.

Minister Haxhinasto said that the investment amounts to 15 million USD and this fund will serve for the construction of the infrastructure which will serve to tourism.

Haxhinasto said that the interest of domestic and foreign investors for the marine tourism, is a positive signal for the Albanian economy.

The new yacht port in Durres, which expected to be ready in a year, comes along with the port of Synej in Kavaja, an important investment amounting to 45 million USD, and the tourist port of Shengjin, which is a 5 million USD investment. Also, the port of Bunec in the south of the country is being treated as a concessionary contract.

Meanwhile, the port of Orikum in the south is in the phase of the completion of the legal framework, to become an open international port and serve to yachts operating in the Adriatic and Ionian sea.

Although several yacht ports are being opened, there’s still no infrastructure which would encourage cruise ships. Many international companies hold tours all year round by cruise ships around the world, including Balkan countries, but not Albania. /ibna/
