Albanian authorities have seized and destroyed in 2015 10 billion euros worth of narcotic substances.

The drugs, which include cocaine, heroin and marijuana, have been seized in different police operations last year and have been subject to investigations and trials.

The seized amounts have been destroyed by burning them throwing them on the river.

Albanian Interior minister, Saimir Tahiri says that the entire amount of 2015 reached a value in the black market of narcotics of more than 10 billion euros.

“In 2015, the amount of seized and destroyed drugs exceeded the 10 billion euros. On the same year, we have expropriated illegal proceeds amounting to 30 million euros”, Mr. Tahiri says.

This figure is more than the annual state budget in Albania.

The drug traffic currently occupies the first place as far as people who are arrested by Albanian police are concerned.

Drug traffic was widespread, especially in the southern village of Lazarat, where a while ago, the state intervened and stopped the cultivation of marijuana. /ibna/
