Skenderbeu football club of the southeastern city of Albania, Korca, is expelled for a year from all UEFA sport activities.
UEFA decided to penalize Skenderbeu and forbid the club from playing in European cups for a year.
The decision came after UEFA had officially launched a probe for match fixing against Skenderbeu.
KF Skenderbeu reacted on the decision by saying that “UEFA has unjustly suspended Skenderbeu for a season (2016-2017) from European Cups”.
The club considers this decision as “unfair, not proven and not justified.” The club says that this decision will be appealed to higher instances.
“We are convinced that the right denied by UEFA will be won at CAS by our club”, reads the official statement of the club which is led by President Ardian Takaj.
UEFA inspectors had raised suspicions on the verity of Skenderbeu’s results in several fixtures of the Albanian super league (against Partizani, Teuta, Tirana, Vllaznia) and in European cups. /balkaneu.com/
