Albanian female weightlifter, Romela Begaj has marked a historic result, by snatching the first golden medal for women in a world championship. The notable Albanian talent, Romela Begaj has been announced world champion in the Snatch style for the category up to 63 kg.
Romela Begaj (photo) has lifted 113 kg in the third attempt by achieving the same result as the sportswoman from Kazakhstan, Karina Goricheva, but she was favored by the low body weight.
The 28 year old weightlifter has marked the highest result of her career. She was ranked seventh in the Clean and Jerk style with 245 kg lifted in total. This ranking was conditioned by the result in the Snatch style, which is nonetheless increasing for Romela, who managed to successfully lift 132 kg.
The success of Romela Begaj in weightlifting for women follows that of the other Albanian weightlifter, Daniel Godelli. /ibna/
