Albania’s runner, Luiza Gega has finished second in the women’s 3000 m steeplechase in the European Athletics Championship being held in Amsterdam.
Gega (on the right of the photo) won silver medal although this discipline was a novelty for her and competed for the first time in it.
In a tough race with the German athlete Krause (on the left), the Albanian athlete, Gega, came second with 9:28:52, 10 seconds behind the German of the first place. The athlete from Turkey was ranked third, 7 seconds behind Gega.
A silver medal and a European runner up position are significant achievements. Luiza Gega says that they promise a lot for the Rio Olympics in August 2016.
President of Albanian Athletics Federation, Gjergj Ruli considers this triumph as a good omen for the Rio Olympics.
Gega’s coach, Taulant Stermasi hopes that this success will turn into support in all aspects. /balkaneu.com/
