In the framework of the 69th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati chaired in New York the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
Present in the meeting were foreign ministers of 13 member countries, Commissioner Fule, representatives of the EU Italian presidency and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo participated in this activity for the first time, as a participant with full and equal rights.
This meeting (photo) announced the priorities of the Albanian chairmanship 2014-2015 which are: strengthening of the regional role of SEECP, the promotion of dialogue between member countries as a means of functioning for SEECP and the consolidation of vital sectors of SEECP. The meeting also approved the agenda of activities which will be held during the Albanian chairmanship.
Mr. Bushati says that the New York meeting is a special moment, as it marks the start of the Albanian chairman of SEECP, the highest forum of cooperation between Southeastern European countries.
“Albanian chairmanship of SEECP is an important political and diplomatic engagement, in order to further promote the role of the politics of our country in the region and beyond”, said the minister.
During the Albanian chairmanship, Tirana will host several high level meetings, with the participation of heads of states/governments, speaker of parliaments, foreign ministers and other ministers, depending on the priorities of this chairmanship.
A number of regional activities on an expert level, on a level of representatives of civil society, academic world and business community will also be held. /ibna/
