The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga held an official visit today to Tirana where she met leaders of the state, such as her counterpart, Bujar Nishani, speaker of parliament, Ilir Meta and the head of the government, Edi Rama.
In her speech in front of Albanian lawmakers, president Jahjaga said that “with Albania, we have a joint history of suffering, however, without Albania, Kosovo would not be the country that it is today”.
Stressing the contribution given by Albania and the support for Kosovo, Jahjaga declared that “we, Kosovars, didn’t remain prisoners of history, but managed to move forward in the process of integration in the European Union. As never before in the history of Balkans, we are together and have embraced the best values. Peace in the region will secure stability for the citizens of our countries, therefore today, we encourage economic cooperation”.
Jahjaga also said that for Kosovo, there’s not a more strategic partner than Albania in the region, giving the world an example for its religious harmony. /ibna/
