Albania has dispatched today its contingent in the Aegean Sea, as part of the NATO operation for the prevention of illegal refugees called “Sea Guardian”.
In this ceremony, the minister of Defence, Olta Xhacka considered the refugee crisis as one of the biggest challenges that Europe is going through today, while she mentioned the achievements of the previous Albanian contingents in the Aegean Sea.
“You have saved the lives of around 540 people of different ages, genders and nationality. Syrians, Iraqis, but also Nigerians, Congolese, Somalis and Yemenis are alive today thanks to the sacrifice of Albanian soldiers. In the past two months, the contingent that you will replace, has saved 151 human lives, from which 33 women and 56 children. You have made us all proud and you’re the best example of sacrifice”, she said. /balkaneu.com/
