The 54th Song Festival at the Albanian Radio Television elected in the early hours of this morning, the song that will represent Albania in the European Song Contest, Eurovision 2016.
The song “Fairy tale” by Eneda Tarifa, lyrics and music by Elsa Toqi, came first.
The winner of the 54th edition of the Song Festival at RTSH will travel in May 2016 to Sweden to compete in the Eurovision.
The first two nights of the festival saw the presentation of 30 songs and the final night saw another performance of 15 of them, which led to the winning song.
In contrast to other years, when this festival aimed at following a strict and serious program, on this 54th edition there were many novelties which aimed at breaking this routine that had lasted for many years.
The Song Festival at the Albanian Radio Television is the oldest festival of soft music in Albania and the first one where for many years, songs have been brought on the stage live by singers and the orchestra.
Since 2004, this festival has also produced the song that represents Albania in the European Song Contest. Last year, Albania was represented by Elhaida Dani with the song “I’m Alive”.
Albania also has other annual festivals, but the one at RTSH has the exclusiveness of sending Albanian songs at Eurovision. Every once and a while, producers of other festivals have considered it unacceptable. The say that it’s not fair that Albania is represented in Europe by only one festival, which some critics have considered as mediocre, especially in the recent years./ibna/
