The Albanian national side has gone up on the 36th position in the global FIFA ranking. The previous record was the 37th position in 2013.
Gianni De Biasi’s side has gained in the past month 15 places, something which can be considered as one of the most positive movements within this time interval on a global level.
The victory against Grance, 1 goal to nil on June 13, has had an impact on this classification.
The 36th position is the best ranking that Albania has ever had in the FIFA official ranking.
In this ranking, Albania has left behind two group contestants, Serbia on 43rd and Armenia on 89th.
Portugal on the seventh and Denmark on the 24th position stand in a better position than Albania.
The results of the last season helped the Albanian national side to go up in the third vase for the World 2018 draw. This way, Albania has the possibility of playing weaker teams.
The draw will be held on 25 July in St. Petersburg.
Meanwhile, there are no changes in the top list of the FIFA ranking. Argentina is on the first position, followed by Germany and Belgium. Among the best 10 is also Wales, which is surprising everyone in the Euro 2016 qualifiers. /ibna/
