Albania: Parliament gives green light to set up committee to investigate Marty allegations

On Thursday, the Albanian Parliament gave the green light for the establishment of a special commission to investigate Dick Marty’s allegations regarding the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) running an illegal detention center on Albanian territory during the 1998-1999 war with Serbia.

85 members of the Albanian parliament voted in favor, 12 voted against and four abstained. The committee will be chaired by Ulsi Manja, a member of parliament from the ruling Socialist Party (PS), whose party has launched the investigation.

The Special Parliamentary Special Committee will investigate the report of Dick Marty, who claims that during the 1998-1999 war in Kosovo, the KLA operated illegal detention centers in northern Albania. In his report, Dick Marty also mentioned the so-called Yellow House in the Mati area, claiming that the KLA had collected organs of Serb victims in this house. The proposal to set up the commission came just weeks after Kosovo’s special chambers were set up to prosecute and indict Marty’s allegations, confirming the first allegations against former senior KLA commanders. /ibna
