“Let’s unite with the growing political movements across the country to create a united front for the restoration of democracy through free and fair elections”, said President Ilir Meta today, who was honored for his struggle in the uprising against the communist dictatorship.
“May is a special month to celebrate the uprisings against Europe’s most brutal dictatorship in half a century. Therefore, we are grateful to the Lionhearts of Qafë Bari and Spaç, the two most terrible prisons, who dared to rise up and fight for their freedom and rights, giving their lives”, he said.
“They broke the myth of the inviolability of the criminal regime and showed that it could not be eternal”, Meta said.
Today, Meta added, “when we see where our democracy has fallen, the only honor we can and should do in honor of their sacrifices is to join the growing political movements across the country to create a united front to restore democracy through free and fair elections”.
“The 27-month endurance of artists is the most noble cause of these decades and an example of inspiration for all those who have dignity and deserve freedom”, Meta said.
“We honor the Lionheart of Qafë Bari who shocked the most brutal dictatorship in Europe. Respect for the Lionhearts of the Alliance for the Theater, who won the admiration of the whole of Europe for their noble intentions and removed the last mask from the regime of criminal violence. Let us all defend democracy! When people rise, tyranny falls! Freedom is won and not given away!”, Meta concluded./ibna
