Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, considered the fight against narcotic substances, in a conference held today on this topic, as successful.

He said that the previous government was not able to do anything in order to fight narcotic substances. Tahiri declared that the first cannabis cultivated plot was destroyed in March 2014 to then culminate with the anti narcotic operation in Lazarat.

Tahiri considered this operation as a symbol of the open challenge in order not to make a step backwards in the fight against the cultivation of narcotic substances, while he considered the operation in Dukagjin as another successful operation, due to the difficult terrain.

“From March until today, 2214 plots with narcotic substances have been destroyed throughout the country along with 530 thousand cannabis roots. These figures are more than the roots destroyed in the past six years. 107 tons of marijuana have been seized, 1000 people have been indicted and 41 criminal groups have been destroyed. I can proudly say that Albania is no longer a country of the cultivation and taffic of narcotic substances”, said Tahiri.

Tahiri said that the Albanian government will not stop in its fight, while adding that there’s still a lot of work to be done. /ibna/
