Albanian PM, Edi Rama is optimistic that Albania will launch EU accession talks next year.
Mr. Rama issued this declaration after the meeting with the President of the Progressive Alliance of European Socialists and Democrats, Gianni Pitella.
“Next year must be the year when Albania launches accession talks, based on the determination of the Albanian government to advance with a number of reforms aimed at consolidating the state”, Mr. Rama said.
The Albanian PM’s declaration was also backed by Mr. Pitella: “We believe that Albania must start with the talks. Rama’s government has done a very good job in all sectors, such as fight against corruption, reform in the public administration, economic growth and social cohesion. There is a proposal for a reform in the justice system, which marks an important advancement and I would like this reform to advance, as it is crucial for the citizens. This is why I believe that 2016 should be the year of the launch of talks”, Mr. Pitella said.
Mr. Pitella also said that he’s optimistic that Albania will be an EU member country by 2019. /ibna/
