Albanian Ministers of Justice Etilda Gjonaj and Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku had an online chat today with Isabel Santos, the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Albania, and Charlotte Ruhe, Executive Director for Central and South-Eastern Europe.
Minister Gjonaj said that the discussion focused on the two main areas for EU membership, justice and energy.
“Today I had the pleasure of talking with Belinda Balluku, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Charlotte Ruhe, Executive Director of the EBRD for Central and South-Eastern Europe, and Isabel Santos, European Parliament Rapporteur for Albania, in a committee chaired by Steven Blockmans (CEPS) on the importance, prospects and challenges of reforms in two key areas for EU membership: justice and energy”, Gjonaj said.
“The start of negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia in March this year was a long-awaited decision and this green light is not only an achievement, but also a concrete hope for a European future”, Gjonaj continued.
He went on to note that “the prospect of integration has been and is the driving force for the undertaking and implementation of transformational reforms in our country, where the reform of justice can be considered a successful case of this transformational force”.
“I thank the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and CEPS for organizing the online event, and of course for supporting Albania on this journey”, Gjonaj concluded./ibna
