Albania was elected yesterday a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Program, the UNO Fund for the Population and the UNO Office for Project Services (UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS) for the period 2017-2019.
Albania’s election in this important leading institution is seen by the Albanian ministry of Foreign Affairs as a testimony of an active engagement of our country in the framework of the UN’s developing agencies, especially after the approval by Albania of the Transforming Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.
Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati said that Albania’s accession in the Executive Board of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS is an engagement for a contribution that the country is expected to offer in the domains of sustainable development, democratic governance, protection of human rights, empowerment of women and the protection of the rights of vulnerable categories, strengthening of peace in the world, etc. /ibna/
