Albanian Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj is paying a two-day visit to Sofia, where he is expected to hold a series of important meetings.
Gent Cakaj kicked off the visit with a meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister for Justice Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ekaterina Zaharieva.
The meeting focused on discussions on the progress of many strategically important projects, from promoting economic exchanges to developing an energy interconnection. The two counterparts also stressed that Albania has already made steady progress in continuing the process of joining the European Union.
In terms of multilateral co-operation, Bulgaria expressed its full support for Albania’s candidacy for the Security Council as a non – permanent member for the period 2022-2023.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers signed the cooperation agreement in the field of environment and water protection./ibna
