Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman, Hami Aksoy, responding to statements by Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos, that Turkish fighter aircraft have requested permission to enter the Greek airspace, stressed that Turkey recognizes Greece’s airspace at 6 miles. This is not a new practice, the spokesman of the Turkish Foreign Ministry noted.
The entire statement:
“As is well known, a country that wants to use the airspace of another country has the obligation to seek permission for both civilian and military flights. Naturally, our country recognizes Greece’s airspace at 6 miles, and to flights to and from Greece requests permission in accordance with international regulations and conventions. This is not a new practice”./IBNA
