Akar: “We didn’t use banned weapons in our operations in Syria”

Defence Minister Hulusi Akar gave his assurance to the Turkish Parliament that Turkey has never used banned weapons in its military operation in northern Syria.

“Turkey has not used nor will it use ammunition or chemical weapons prohibited by international law and agreements”, Hulusi Akar said in reference to Operation Peace Source for the elimination of terrorist groups in northern Syria, east of the Euphrates River.

Akar also said about 1,200 terrorists have been neutralized since the start of the operation, adding that some 158 members of terrorist organizations have also been neutralized since Turkey launched Operation Claw in northern Iraq.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized” in statements indicating that these terrorists have been surrendered, killed, or captured”./ibna
