Hulusi Akar sent a message to Greece, expressing Turkey’s firm position in a clear way.
“They expect to achieve something with the support of third countries. We clarify to them and tell them that they will not be able to get anywhere, and that if something happens third countries will leave them in the middle of the road. We tell them to come and talk, to agree. We make it clear to them that we are sensitive to the issue of violations and harassment, that we are trying to be calm on these issues, and we will continue to say so. We urge them to abide by the terms of the Lausanne Treaty. We call them demilitarize the islands. Eliminate this difference between airspace and territorial waters”, he said.
The Turkish Minister threatened Greece and Cyprus saying: “Do not try to create fait accompli that do not include us. Don’t test us. You will be sorry. We have repeated our determination many times. We do seismic research and drilling, everyone knows it, but they do not understand it. Each of these actions has a legal, academic and economic basis. They are based on a logical basis. But you do not want to understand it and make agreements with other countries, but you are wrong if you think we will back down”./ibna
