“We are ready to do whatever it takes to protect the rights and interests of our brothers and sisters”, Hulusi Akariaia said.
The Cyprus issue is Turkey’s national affair and Ankara’s goal is to make lasting peace and prosperity in the region, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Wednesday.
“Cyprus, the Cypriots are our brothers, we are ready to do whatever it takes to protect the rights and interests of our Cypriot brothers there”, Hulusi Akar said at an event held in Ankara on “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” (TRNC) Armed Forces Day.
Akar said drilling in licensed areas in the Eastern Mediterranean is a right of Turkey and Ankara is and will use that right. “As Turkey and the TRNC with our brothers there, we continue and will continue our work in accordance with our rights and international law”, Akar said.
He reiterated that any proposed solution for Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean that does not include Turkey and the “TRNC” would be in vain and could not be implemented and that Turkey would continue to stand with the Turkish Cypriots as it has done in the past./ibna
